Books Into Movies....

Happy January!

Here are some books to brighten these cold winter days when things just seem more gloomy!

Ever read a movie? Here's what we mean...

Watching the movie version of a book you have just read can add a new dimension to the work as you're able to see for yourself if the characters and events you envisioned while reading the book actually match what's on the screen. Of course, the opposite is also true --- it's interesting to read the book version of a movie you have just seen to see how closely the movie version followed the book.

Lately a slew of books have been made into feature films. All of you probably are familiar with at least one --- The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. The others are a mixture of comedies and dramas with star-studded casts, including Catch Me If You Can, The Hours, Gangs of New York, The 25th Hour, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind and Frida. Whether or not you have read the books or seen the movies, here's some information on these wonderful film adaptations. This feature was written by Tom Donadio.

Our Question of the Month is:

What series books do you read? What do you like about them? Send your answer to Question@teenreads.com.

In this interview Laura Pedersen talks about how she got the idea for her debut novel, BEGINNER'S LUCK, how she and her character Hallie differ --- and how they are the same --- and the influences on her work.

Laura Pedersen introduces readers to Hallie Palmer --- a savvy 16-year old who is wise beyond her years --- and a number of endearing and quirky characters who populate Cosgrove County, Ohio.
