Maximum Ride Series by James Patterson |
Rating: 5 Stars |
The Maximum Ride series by James Patterson is a must read. It's about average kids; only, they're not so average at all. These kids have wings. Yes, wings. And they can fly.
They grew up in a genetic research lab known as the "School, " where they were experimented on and their DNA was messed with, resulting in them having wings and other nonhuman powers. I'm not one for science-fiction books or anything even remotely similar. I was suggested this book on a website and was so desperate for something to read that I went down to my local library and got the first book in the series --- MAXIMUM RIDE: THE ANGEL EXPERIMENT. After a few chapters, I was hooked. I finished the three books in 3 days flat. (And I can't wait to get my hands on a copy of book 4!) Even if you're not into things like this, this series will grab your attention and hold on tight to it! James Patterson writes in the perfect teenage perspective. With humor, drama, tons of action, and even a little romance, this book is an easy 5 out of 5. I would recommend reading this book to all teens. It doesn't matter what books your into you're sure to like this series.

Brilliant! This was a fantastic book! It's a lot like the "10 little indians" song from the old movie And Then There Were None, but scarier and more thrilling. I really loved it, I was scared for the characters and I could not possibly put it down once I began reading it! I ... I highly recommend it to horror, mystery and thrill seekers.

Saving the World and Other Extreme Sports by James Patterson |
Rating: 5 Stars |
Reading this book in about 5 hours straight, I recommend this series to every single one of my friends having trouble finding a good read. Each book in the series has won tons of awards, and I've also read every single comment from others on it, all of them being postitive. Without knowing it, you practically fall in love with the characters, whether it be the protagonist or antagonist. I've laughed out loud in the middle of class more than once when reading the first and second ones. The story line moves so quickly that you don't even need to skip the descriptions, which I often end up doing in thick books. When seeing the genre is fantasy, I hesitated. But I sure am glad I picked it up eventually.

Fell by David Clement-Davies |
Rating: 4 Stars |
This book has a mix of fantasy, history, and adventure, and the point of view ranges form humans to wolves. It's interesting to see the world through a wolf's point of view, and it's easy to get sucked in and start thinking through this wild animal's eyes. Though even with these ranges of characters, there is a concise point to the story, and an easy-to-follow plot.

TH1RTEEN R3ASONS by Jay Asher |
Rating: 5 Stars |
First of all, yes, I know I put numbers in the title. That's the way it goes. This book is beyond amazing. Its about a girl named Hannah who goes through so many little, bad experiences; they all build up and she ends up committing suicide. Right before she dies, she mails a set of 7 tapes (you know, the stuff that held music before CDs) with a story on each side of every tape. She uses 13 of the 14 sides, and says on the first tape that each side has a story of a person who somehow partially caused her death. This book is so deep and eye-opening for people who fly through life without a care. It really shows you just how much the little rude, snippy comments you make to people can affect them more than you know.

Circus of the Damned by Katie Maxwell |
Rating: 5 Stars |
I love Katie Maxwell's book series, but I especially love this one. This is the second book in the series and is hilarious. The heroine is a Beloved of a vampire and has the power to find out the history of things and people by touching them. This book includes Viking Ghosts that think the heroine is a Goddess, a pissed-off god who steals her horse, and a pendant that causes the heroine a lot of trouble and mischief. It's a good thing the heroine has family and friends throughout the book or I don't think she would survive.

Rating: 5 Stars |
This book is excellent! It's more for teenagers because of language used. But for a teenager, perfect. I recomend it to all my friends. The story is about the romance you find in the least likely spot. It's a story of the cool guy and the not-so-cool girl and how they can not be without each, but with a strange twist. You will love it! Try reading it, you won't be disappointed.

Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Rings by J. R. R Tolkien |
Rating: 5 Stars |
This is the first installment of the hobbit Frodo's quest to destroy the Ring of Power in the fires of Mt. Doom. He sets off with his friends, Merry, Pippin, and Sam. They travel to Bree, where they meet Strider, the Ranger. He watches out for them and protects the Ring from the wraiths. The group travels to Rivendell, and meet Gandalf, the wizard. An Elf, a Human, and a Dwarf join their company as well, and they leave Rivendell to start the real quest.
While I was reading this book, I could feel the fear, joy, and turmoil the company had as if it were my own. This book is perfect for anyone who loves fantasy and adventure! This book is as magical as its tale!!! I loved it!

This has to be the most well-written and original book I have read in a long time. I've never had a book told in third person where you actually knew who the narrator was. Although I would like to one day be able to see a movie based on this, I don't think it would be as good as the book. Certain stories are better told written than on the big screen.

One of my new favorite books! Excellent! I wanted to run out and buy canned goods right then and there. It was scary to consider that something like this might actually happen (the moon getting knocked off kilter and completely ruining the Earth's climate, etc.) and we're not really prepared to deal with it. Even more powerful was the perspective of just one family struggling to survive. Would you sacrifice yourself for your family? Absolutely powerful!

Feed by M. T. Anderson |
Rating: 4 Stars |
This was a really good SciFi/futuristic earth novel. In the not-so-distant future, everyone has a "Feed" that is hardwired into their brains. Basically a combination internet/tv/cell phone/shopping device, it's really dumbed down the entire population. The story is centered around a boy and his girlfriend and the evolution of their relationship as she is dying because her Feed is malfunctioning. So, the story is kind of dystopian with a "dangers of technology" and anti-consumerism bent, along with a "dying from a terminal illness" theme. Overall, a very thought-provoking book, well deserving of the National Book Award Finalist status it received.

I really enjoyed this book, it was very easy to read, but difficult to comprehend at the same time.
