Take Off by Todd Strasser
Rating: 5 Stars
I'm not a big surfer fan; I don't even know how to surf, but the way Strasser wrote this book makes it seem so gripping! The characters are so real, as if this was a half diary! It's a MUST read! There are two more sequels to this and I'm going to read them this week!

The Chosen by Celia Thomson
Rating: 5 Stars
A great book! But before you read this, be sure to read THE FALLEN and THE STOLEN, which are the first two books in the series, The Nine Lives of Chloe King. I'm not sure if there is going to be a fourth book, but I sure hope so! It is about a girl who discovers she has 9 lives after surviving a long fall that should've killed her. She finds out that there are others like her, other cat people, who want to help her learn how to use her "cat skills." Fantastic book!
Kitty Kat

Maximum Ride: Schools out....Forever by James Patterson

This is a very good book. It keeps the suspense up so you can't stop reading. It's the sequel to MAXIMUM RIDE: ANGEL EXPERIMENT and it doesn't miss a beat going from the first book to the other.
Rivka
Beautiful Lies by Lisa Unger
Rating: 5 Stars
This really deserves a star rating of 10+. A bit similar to THE FACE ON THE MILK CARTON, but more of an adult and mature version. The main characters are amazing, and you get so caught up in the reading that when you reach the last page, you wish that it could just keep going. "New York freelancer Ridley Jones, receives a faded photo of a man, a familiar-looking woman and a little girl along with a note asking, "Are you my daughter?"
Everything you'd want, all in one book.

Vampire Kisses 2: Kissing Coffins by Ellen Schreiber
Rating: 4 Stars
This was the sequel to VAMPIRE KISSES and I was hoping the second one would be just as good and if kept up the the VAMPIRE KISSES standard. This book was better than the first. It was full of Romance, Comedy, and a touch of Horror. It's good that Ellen Schreiber is able to keep the Goth image of main character, Raven, alive when Raven is in love. Ellen left me on a cliff hanger and now I'm dying to read the next one, VAMPIREVILLE.

Sloppy Firsts by Megan McCafferty
Rating: 5 Stars
When I first read SECOND HELPINGS, I immediately went and searched the author's name and found all her books. SLOPPY FIRSTS is an amazing story about life, love and finding out who you are. You immediately fall in love with the characters and it makes you want to keep on reading and reading it!
Rivka
Second Helpings by Megan McCafferty
Rating: 5 Stars
This books really deserves a 10-star rating. I first read this book by Megan and my friend and I were in love with it. It goes through the life of Jessica Darling and former druggie, Marcus Flutie. He uses mind-twisting hidden meanings to tell her how much he loves her. After I read this, I found out it was the 2nd book of 3. So I ran to the library and got SLOPPY FIRSTS and CHARMED THIRDS. I finished within a day and a half, and couldn't put them down. They're the types of books that make you sigh, laugh, cry and read, read, read!

How To Kill a Rock Star by Tiffanie DeBartolo
Rating: 5 Stars
Everyone has a soul mate. I believe that everyone has their soul mate in books as well. When I found this book, I read it for 4 hours nonstop, and went through every kind of emotion there is. It was heart wrenching, soul pulling, and just out of this world, knock your socks off AWESOME!
Put all your reading lists on hold, and get this book ASAP!
I ended up reading this book twice since I loved every word of it! You will love the characters right from the beginning, and when you think you've figured something out, DeBartolo does a switch back that totally knocks you out of your socks!
HOW TO KILL A ROCK STAR is my book sent from Heaven!!!

Rating: 5 Stars
These are very good books for girls around the ages of 13-17. I'm 14 and I enjoy them very much! They deal with all the kinds of issues teens deal with but with a new perspective. Even though they aren't on this webiste, you should check them out anyway!
Abi

Rating: 5 Stars
This was great book. If you like romance and fantasy about vampires, this is the book for you.
Qwerty
Second Helpings by Megan Mccafferty
Rating: 4 Stars
The library didn't have the first book, so I started on the second one. I thought it would be confusing, but it wasn't, really. I liked how the narrator dealt with some of the problems all teens who go to high school deal with, and I found it ironic that she could criticize all her peers but couldn't see herself clearly.
Tirzah
New Moon by Midori Snyder
Rating: 3 Stars
There are four elements of magic in Oran: Fire, Earth, Air, and Water. They are also the elements of Oran's four queens, until the Fire Queen Zorah destroyed her sisters in the Great Burning in order to retain her youth.
Now, two hundred years later, Oran still trembles under Zorah's oppression. But the capital city of Beldan is growing restless. Rumor has it that four young women exist, bearing ancient magic that can overthrow Zorah. And now a ragtag army of street snitches, orphans, vagrants, thieves, and knife wielders are stealing into the city. Their sign is scrawled on the tavern walls: a bloodred, blade-thin New Moon.
A very entertaining start to the Oran trilogy. Midori Snyder writes a darker side of fantasy not often seen before, which results into an entirely believable and engrossing novel.
Latasha
Dreamland by Sarah Dessen
Rating: 5 Stars
I read this book in one day. I couldn't put it down. I fell in love with both Caitlin and Rogerson. I also felt bad for both of them, and I wanted to see them succeed. I wish that more authors could take on abuse in teenage relationships in such a real way!
Latasha

Rosie
After by Francine Prose
Rating: 5 Stars
This book really made me think. It's about what happens to a school if the wrong people get power and the parents stay as clueless as they normally are. It's set in a school not far from Columbine, soon after the shooting. I think it is one of the best books I've ever read.

Canned-Ice
An Abundance of Katherines by John Green
Rating: 4 Stars
This was a funny book about a boy going through the phases of being heartbroken. The catch is, this is the nineteenth time he's been dumped by a Katherine, whom he has a thing for --- Katherines, that is. He and his friend settle in Gitshot, Tennesse, where he tries to prove his theorem that you can predict how long a relationship will last.
Koraline
13 Little Blue Envelopes by Maureen Johnson
Rating: 3 Stars
I had great expectations for this book --- the synopsis on the front flap intrigued me completely. However, the story, at first, was bland and flavorless. The characters (or most) seemed a bit lifeless and it just didn't stick with me. But, as I progressed on, the plot livened up a bit, and it got exciting. I would have liked if more of the characters were developed a lot more, since some of them were a bit flat in the book.
Nevertheless, the twist at the end satisfied me, and overall, the book was pretty okay. A light and funny read, perfect for someone traveling or (like me) wishing to travel.
Koraline
How I Live Now by Meg Rossof
Rating: 5 Stars
HOW I LIVE NOW is a truly touching read that will open the readers' eyes. It displays the agony, pain, and change a war can inflict upon regular people, like you, me or even Daisy.
15-year-old Daisy, a native New Yorker, is shipped from her home to the English countryside --- the evil doings of Davinia the Diabolical, her step mother. But England isn't as bad as she thinks it will be. First there is Edmond, her fourteen-year-old cousin who drives, smokes and has the odd ability to read her mind. Then there is the rest of his family --- affectionate Piper, caring Issac, kind Aunt Penn, and responsible Osbert. Daisy is overcome with a sense of belonging. Fresh air, clear blue skies, a rambling house and the sight of sweet Edmond everyday create her utopia, while the looming threat of war, Aunt Penn's departure, and the splitting up of the family bring it crashing down at her feet. Will she ever see Edmond again? How will she live now?
This is a war story. A love story. A must-read story.

Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment by James Patterson
Rating: 5 Stars
The best book in the WORLD. Its about six kids who are genetically altered to be 98% human and 2% bird, resulting in wings. The six kids, Max, Fang, Iggy, Nudge,The Gasman and Angel, escaped from a place called the School, where scientists studied and did tests on them four years ago. They were saved by a scientist named Jeb who brought them to a home in Colorado. But, he disappeared 2 years afterwards. Now, they are fighting creepy wolf hybrids who took Angel back to the School. This book has the perfect blend of action, adventure and mystery, for fans of X-Men but with the twists and turns of Harry Potter.

The story is about a girl who is found guilty of wichcraft --- except she's not a witch. But the villagers stake her out on the hillside as an offering for a dragon anyway. It's funny, but if they hadn't done that, she wouldn't have met the dragon, who offered to help her take her revenge.

Persuasion by Jane Austen
Rating: 4 Stars
Anything by Jane Austen is a must read (even if the language can be difficult to understand, at times). Her characters are always strong women who are great role models. I especially love the 19th-century subtlety. You sometimes don't get what they are saying until you read it over. That's etiquette!

Because of this great book, I can not wait to read NEW MOON, the second book! It wasn't what I thought it would be... it was better! It is a romance and part action book, which keeps you reading into the late hours of the night just to finish one more chapter, then one more, then one more...

The Pearl by John Steinbeck
Rating: 3 Stars

Bound by Donna Jo Napoli
Rating: 4 Stars
BOUND is a great book with a very good plot. It is a constant quest. The only reason I gave it four stars is because it is so sad at a few parts. I know a lot of people like sad books, but I almost can't stand them. If you like them, read this book. Even if you don't, you should give it a try, just like I did.

Pandemia by Jonathan Rand and Christopher Knight
Rating: 5 Stars
This was the best book I have EVER read in my life!!! I bought it at around 2:00pm one day and read until 10:00pm that night and finished it the next morning! I couldn't put down that book!!! i do not suggest this book to people who get grossed out easily.
This book is about the threat of the bird flu jumping from birds to humans (it sounds boring but IT ISN'T!!) A brother, sister, the sister's boyfriend, and her friend survive the bird flu after they find out all of their parents died from it. Their house gets looted while they're STILL inside!!! Warning: this book is REALLY suspensful!!! They have to escape gangs of people on there way to a deserted cabin, and that is their only way to survive.

The Cure for Crushes by Karen Rivers

Thrill Ride by Rachel Hawthorne
Rating: 4 Stars
This book is a real page turner when it comes to the 'summer love' thing. Its about this character named Megan who leaves home for the summer to apply for a job in an amusement park out of state. She is excited, but the only thing letting her down is her boyfriend, Nick. But Megan gets used to working at the amusement park and gets to know a little more of a new hottie named Parker, and starts having a little crush for him. People, read this book to see Megan's next move!

Hook, Line, and Sinker by G.P. Guarente

This book is really good. It makes you wonder why it isn't as popular as some others like THE BOYFRIEND LIST because it almost has the same concept, but way more interesting the way the author intertwines fish to boys. Definitely a super thumbs up.

Inside the Mind of Gideon Rayburn by Sarah Miller
Rating: 5 Stars
INSIDE THE MIND OF GIDEON RAYBURN took a little while to get into, but is a great book once you do. It has a fresh, interesting premise and is fun for girls who want to see how guys think or for guys who would enjoy seeing how Gideon's life at prep school plays out. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson
Rating: 4 Stars
This novel is an oldie, a classic, and yet it is one of the best adventure stories I've ever come across. TREASURE ISLAND is the story that has set the brilliant tradition of "buried treasure and buccaneers" that rarely fails to capture the imaginations of young minds.
I've been fortunate enough to not have to read this novel for school, as that spoils any book, in my opinion. Perhaps those who have not enjoyed this book for the first time would like to give it another try on their own, or those who would just want to settle back to enjoy a good read (and transport back in time) should try this novel.

Alice MacLeod, Realist At Last by Susan Juby
Rating: 4 Stars
Alice MacLeod, two books ago, home-schooled, a ‘teen in transition (not trouble)’ and self-doubting returns in ‘Alice the Realist at Last’ as a dramatic, alternative school survivor, with flair for writing and…causing chaos! ‘Alice the Realist at Last’, Susan Juby’s narrative is about discovering and coming to terms with oneself. The emphasis is on Alice’s departure from the disillusioned romantic to the accepting realist.
In the third, calmer installment of Susan Juby’s series, wacky Alice meets all kinds of challenges. Alice’s seventeenth summer is spent juggling three jobs, as well as potential beaus, corresponding with her mother, (jailed for staging an unwanted environmental protest) all while her ex-boyfriend treks through Europe, accompanied by a Swedish supermodel. To make things worse, her new matter-of-fact counsellor doesn’t have a scrap of sympathy for her! So, Alice pens a screenplay, (starring herself) which she hopes will hand fame and fortune, that she desperately needs, on a silver platter. However, in the end, Alice realises that it’s not the time for dreams, and faces reality as best as possible.
Alice possesses a witty, sardonic charm, greeting everyday with a burst of energy. She has the soul of a true (sometimes self-absorbed) drama queen. One moment you’re plagued with the sorrows of Alice’s traumatic teenage life, the next minute, you’re laughing uproariously at her antics. Teens meeting Alice for the first time will likely be captivated by this entertaining heroine. Alice’s quirky sense of humour, slightly pessimistic nature is enduring; I can relate to her truthful, gritty comments about life. In my opinion, she bears a resemblance to Louise Rennison’s Georgia Nicholson. Both teens share their diaries, story-telling talent and the ability to arrive in each scene with a little mayhem and a lot of drama. The difference is that, the Alice books discuss issues like: relationships, incarceration, harassment, love, jobs and self-discovery, while the Georgia series focuses on romance.

Pretties by Scott Westerfeld
Rating: 5 Stars
I picked up this book as soon as I finished UGLIES (the first in the trilogy), expecting it to be everything I wanted. It was more. The action sequences, the quiet philosophical musings, the extremely believeable, real-life characters: all of it catapulted me into a reader's paradise, buoying me up even further than I went with UGLIES. Every single plot twist (which came completely unexpected) was beautifully done, and every single development in the characters made me mourn or cheer accordingly. Tally, David, Shay and Zane became my reality for the scant hours that I poured over this book. PRETTIES is an amazing novel, defying the "sequels suck" rule with a will.

Brave New Girl by Louisa Luna
Rating: 4 Stars
BRAVE NEW GIRL is a raw and angsty teen novel about a girl who is dealing with the trials and tribulations of adolescence and growing up. She hangs out with her best friend, Ted, and also has a crush on her older sister's boyfriend. BRAVE NEW MOON is full of swearing, but also packed with emotions that are both real and intriguing. I enjoyed this book --- it was a little different from the typical teen novel, and I liked that.
