Teach Me by R. A. Nelson
Rating: 4 Stars
I thought this was a book with some beautiful writing, but it also had some problems. The writing is poetic and often hits the nail right on the head in terms of capturing emotions or moments. It's often poignant and beautiful. The relationship between Nine and her teacher is discussed in a very real, honest way, and I liked that Nine's emotions were the main focus of that aspect of the story. It's not afraid to be sexy, to go to that place --- but the book is also much more interesting for placing the focus on Nine's bliss and destruction rather than on the nature of her relationship with her teacher (meaning it's not so much an Issue Book as it is a story about this girl's experience). There's some problems with that focus, too. The story is occasionally too melodramatic, and some of the plot points (especially those related to Nine's reactions to events in the story) are really unbelievable or portrayed as less bizarre than they are. These made empathizing with Nine difficult at times, and removed me from the story entirely at others.
Despite its flaws, I enjoyed this book and read it very quickly. I think it has plenty of merit despite its problems, and is worth reading.

Crosses by Shelly Stoehr
Rating: 5 Stars
This book was amazing. It's not the newest --- in fact, the setting is in the early 80's, I believe --- but the feeling is still there. Many teenagers can relate to the things the main character feels, like the idea of wanting to stand out and be unique, yet fit in at the same time. It's simply amazing, and I recommend it to any teen.

Twilight by Stephenie Meyer

This book is the best I have ever read. I seriously could not put it down. I was reading it in class, before work, and at night when I should have been doing my homework. Its story of vampire love seriously engrosses every sensation of the reader. A MUST-read book.

Rating: 5 Stars
An incredibly unique (and reeeeally cute) nine-year-old boy finds a key that belonged to his dad, who died in 9/11. He goes on a hunt throughout NYC to find the lock that the key fits with. This book is extremely original and incredibly worth it.

We Are Witnesses by Jacob Boas
Rating: 5 Stars
This is one of the best books I have ever read. It is about the feelings leading up to the deaths of 5 Jewish teenagers. Their names were David Rubinowicz, Yitzhac Rudashevski, Moshe Flinkler, Eva Heyman, and Ann Frank. Their diares were found and recorded into this book to document what it was like living under Hitler's twisted rule, and what was happening to the Jewish community. I would recomend this book to anybody, even if they do not like nonficton. Reading this book is like reading a fiction novel --- you would never be able to believe that someone would do that to someone just because he/she is Jewish. Those are all the reasons why I liked this book and would recommend it to anyone.

Maine Squeeze by Catherine Clark
Rating: 4 Stars
I only give the book a 4 because I haven't finshed it yet. But so far it is great! I love Catherine Clark's books! This book is about Colleen, how she spends the summer with her friends, and not one, but two hot guys. You should also read ICING ON THE LAKE, also by Catherine Clark. I loved it and you will too! (It's a love story! )

Rabia
Ithaka by Adele Geras
Rating: 5 Stars
This book brought me to tears because Adele writes so well about human characters. The story is told from Penolope's and a handmaiden's point of view, about how life is like when Odessyus is gone. She really puts into perspective how peole were just the toys of Gods, and how love comes in mnay forms. Her other book, TROY, was a show-stopper as well. Both books are historically well written.
Rabia
Skybreaker by Kenneth Oppel
Rating: 5 Stars
If you like books about lost treasure, flying, and adventure, then SKYBREAKER is for you. Continuing from the first in the series, AIRBORN, the story follows Matt Cruse on a trip to find the fabled treasure ship, the Hyperion. I love how the book is set in a world of no airplanes, just sky ships, like Treasure Planet. Kenneth writes very discriptively and I couldn't put the book down. Set in Europe, the book deals with themes of romance, morals, and how far human greed will go. It is really worth the time!

I Am The Wallpaper by Mark Peter Hughes
Rating: 5 Stars
This book's a delightful mix of humor, romance, and self recognition. Floey (the main character) is likeable and realistic. This book is not a hard read, yet it's thought provoking because of the interseting blend of Zen thoughts and sayings. I really enjoyed this book and I sincerely hope you decide to read it.

The Stranger by Caroline B. Cooney
Rating: 5 Stars
This book is kind of old, but it is an excellent story. Nicoletta falls for a mysterious guy called Jethro with a deep dark secret of being cursed into a monster. Nicoletta tries desperately to protect Jethro's secret. THE STRANGER has everything from enduring love, to a fight for survival, to a supernatural curse. This is an excellent book, one that will be cherished by me forever.

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants by Ann Brashares
Rating: 5 Stars
This book really shows the strength of friendship. I love it because the characters are written very realistically, and they find support in each other. It makes you think about your own friends, and you have thoughts such as, "I could TOTALLY picture my friend doing that," or "I know how it feels to be in that situation." It's a great book!

This is my absolute favorite book! I've read it five times! Something exciting happens on each page and you can't put the book down. Usually I don't like sci-fi, but THE HOUSE OF THE SCORPION is awesome. One of my friends didn't want to read it because she doesn't like science fiction, but I made her, and she loved it. The Broker by John Grisham
Rating: 5 Stars
John Grisham is known for his abilty to make every book he writes come alive, and he keeps it up with this one. I am reading this book for a book club, and even though it does not look apealing to an average teenage girl, the plot and good writing keep me interested. THE BROKER is about a fifty-two year old man, Backman, who just received a pardon from twenty years of solitary confinement. The CIA let him go to see which country would kill him first. Backman has a lot of secrets, and no government wants him out in the world with those secrets.

An interesting story set in medival Italy in which a magician who doesn't believe in magic is called upon to rid the princess of a horrible ghost. Magnus the Magician's servant Fabrizo plays an important part in unraveling the mystery surrounding the ghost's appearance. The book's pretty good, but a fairly slow-moving mystery for those looking for a lot of action.

SIR THURSDAY was a really good read. Actually, the "Keys to the Kingdom" series is really great. The plot is really creative and intricate. You won't be disappointed.

The Battle of Jericho by Sharon M. Draper
Rating: 5 Stars
This is an AMAZING book! It is about a boy named Jericho who doesn't feel important, so he and his friends want to join one of the most repsected clubs in town, the Warriors of Distinction. In the beginning, it is all just fun and games, but soon it will all end up in death. You will never want to put this book down, really. You must read this if you like realistic fiction thrillers!!

Twilight by Stephenie Meyer
Rating: 5 Stars
This was most definitely the very best book I have read in a long time. I love TWILIGHT because it's about vampires and then there is the whole "Romeo and Juliet" concept because they are also star-crossed lovers. I especially love this book because it is clean. There are at least 40 girls in my high school that are reading or have read this story. They try to convince their boyfriends to read it, and all goes well until they begin to feel jealousy for Edward because of the way the girls love him. Yes, it is a thick book, but it won't fail to keep your eyes glued to the pages!

Under the Jolly Roger by L. A. Meyer

In this third "Bloody Jack" book, Jacky Faber is on a ship again, after being in boarding school in the second book. This is just as good as the first and the second. Massive by Julia Bell
Rating: 4 Stars
I just finished reading MASSIVE. It was about a girl named Carmen, who is overweight and her mother is bulimic. She lives in Yorkshire England but her mother moved her to a city. It's kind of sad because all her mother cares about is her image and really doesn't care about how Carmen feels. The book was good, and maybe if you have any weight problems or body issues its probably a good book for you.

The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen
Rating: 5 Stars

Red is for Remembrance by Laurie Faria Stolarz
Rating: 5 Stars
This was my favorite book out of all the series! It was very heartwarming at the end, but didn't have as much action throughout the book. As a first, no one really dies in this book. Jacob is finally starting to remember his past, and the camp get shut down. I'm really upset that this is the last book, but maybe she will write more. I really hope so and am looking forward to it!
Hannah
Daughter Of The Forest by Juliet Marillier
Rating: 4 Stars
This book was intense --- you could feel the pain that Sorcha (the main character) was going through the entire time. It was interesting to read because in the book, she is unable to speak to save her seven brothers from a curse. I remember being told the fairy tale of the seven brothers being turned into swans by their step-mother, and having to be saved by their sister. So, reading it as a novel was fascinating.

Rating: 5 Stars
If only I can go up to 10 stars! I know everyone has probably seen the movies, but the book actually is more illustrated and action packed than the movies (I know that seems impossible), thanks to the author's wonderful writing. Once you get to the end of the book and everything is revealed, you will be flipping back pages, wondering why you didnt notice that before.

I just finished this book, and wow --- it was the best. It's one of those books you don't want to put down. That sounds really cliche, but it's true. This book is about a girl named Love Bukowski, who is considered a fac brat at her boarding school. Her father is the new principal and this fact alone leads her into many problems. She is like any teenager who faces the same problems as anybody else, she just has diffrent circumstances.

As Simple as Snow by Gregory Halloway
Rating: 4 Stars
An irritating, frustrating, fabulous book is Halloway's As Simple AS SIMPLE AS SNOW. It chronicles the life of the main character, whose name is never given and is up to the reader to figure out, as he meets Anna Cayne, his true enigma of a girlfriend. This is a book that will keep you hooked until the very end, but a warning --- this book is frustrating, as is Anna Cayne, a strange "Goth" who enjoys writing obituaries for all the people of the small town.

Rating: 5 Stars
I'd give it more stars if I could! This is one of the best Mangas I've read. I've read a lot of the 'Girl sucked into another world' books but this one is just special. But watch out! There are 28 books!
Anyway, an average 15-year-old girl named Yuri is ecstatic when her best guy friend becomes her boyfriend. But, whenever she goes near water it seems to come alive. One day she goes on a date with her boyfriend when all the sudden --- BAM! She's sucked into another world, or rather ancient Turkey! There, she meets Prince Kail, a slightly (Ha, slightly, right...) pervy Prince who seems to keep coming to her rescue. Evil Queen, hot Princes, Oh my!

Saving Francesca by Melina Marchetta
Rating: 5 Stars
I loved this book! It's one of the best I've ever read. It made me laugh, it made me cry, it made me stay up till 6 am reading it. It's about Francesca and the rest of her family dealing with the sudden depression of outgoing Mia (her mother). It's also about Francesca finding out who she really is and who her real friends are. I recommend it to, well... everybody!

I just finished reading it. It's really good! I wish Melissa Kantor would come out with a sequel. It's for every girl out there. It talks about the same problems all girls have now and again. Great book! I hope everyone takes a chance and reads it, you won't be disapointed!
Next, I'm going to start on a series. Books are always checked out of my library that I want to read LOL. Don't be ashamed of being known as a book worm, more teens read than you think.

The A-list series.
If you want to read them they're all on this very site. ENJOY!

Chain of Hearts by Maureen McCarthy
Rating: 4 Stars
A really well-written novel by an Australian author. It's set mainly in a country town in outback Australia, following the lives of Sophie --- 17 and in a mess, facing lots of issues of teens, and Fran --- Sophie's aunt who is looking after her for awhile. The book is really easy to understand and leads up to the Big Event (climax). Worth reading and hard to put down.

Daniel's Story by Carol Matas
Rating: 3 Stars
I selected three stars for this book because it is about the Holocaust and it talks about some of the worst aspects of it. But, it was a don't-want-to-put-it-downer. I actually read it for school, but it was sad and excellent at the same time.

Fear Street Series by R. L. Stine
Rating: 5 Stars
R. L. Stine is ALWAYS the best when it comes to creepy and I love everything that happens on Fear Street. I love the supernatural in general. I wish I could live on good old Fear Street. I think my favorite book would be HAUNTED, about a ghost from the future haunting the girl who killed him in the past.
SilverMoonFairy
Winter of Fire by Sherryl Jordan
Rating: 5 Stars
I LOVED this book and signed it out of the library at least thirty times before the librarian just gave it to me. This is a story about slavery, the lengths that one girl would go to for justice, and how far people would go to to get those unlike them out of their society. Yet, under the protection of the Firelord, Elsha is forever safe from the wrath of the Chosen... until he dies.

Sweet Valley High Series by Francine Pascal
Rating: 4 Stars
While I have yet to read the ENTIRE series, I've read at least thirty or forty of the books and the Wakefield twins lead rather interesting lives. While one is sophisticated and organized, the other is spontaneous and restless --- and usually the cause of all their trouble! I know it's a rather old series, but the first one I read was a thriller edition and it got me hooked.

So, I haven't read this entire series yet either, but these books are hard to come by! Anyway, the girls are in college and making an even BIGGER mess of things, especially Jessica and her best friend Lila, who seem to be trying to date every male in California at least once!

Harry Potter Series by J. K. Rowling
Rating: 5 Stars
I absolutely love this series, and I can't wait for the conclusion of the seventh book. The fourth book, GOBLET OF FIRE, is my absolute favorite, and Ronald Weasley has been my favorite character since my teacher started reading the books in class over six years ago. I will always love these books no matter what.

Lucas by Kevin Brooks
Rating: 5 Stars
This book was amazing, and the characters was great. The story is about a girl named Cait and a boy named Lucas (which ties into the title). I highly recommend all teenagers, both boys and girls, to read this.

Valiant by Holly Black
Rating: 4 Stars
This was a good book. TITHE, Holly Black's previous novel, was better. VALIANT is a companion to TITHE, but its sequel is coming out in 2007. It's called IRONSIDE. This is a mythical adventure of faeries and New York City with orphans and a sick twisted mother, but overall it has a good ending. I'd recommend reading TITHE first, but it really doesn't matter...

Uglies by Scott Westerfield
Rating: 5 Stars
UGLIES is a very interesting book. I'm about half-finished, and I really want to know what happens next. I would also recommend the next book, PRETTIES.

A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams
Rating: 2 Stars
I just finished this for school.
It is a play about the plight of women during the 1940's. This book is unique in that it is debatable as to who the protagonist actually is. It's most probable that it is Blanche, but for whatever reason the reader does not naturally sympathize with her.
This is an interesting read, but more of an English-class book than a for-fun read.

The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini
Rating: 5 Stars
This book was absolutely amazing. It traces the story of Amir, an Afghan boy from the years before and after the Taliban. This highly emotional book paints a moving portrait of the struggles faced by the people of Afghanistan. This book will change the way you look at the world.

The Homecoming by Cynthia Voigt
Rating: 5 Stars
This took me a while to read. The main thing I liked about it was that it talks about family and doing whatever you can to stick together --- even during the hardest times. It is definitely worth reading. Also read the next book: DICEY'S SONG.

Blue is for Nightmares by Laurie Faria Stolarz
Rating: 5 Stars
This is a thrilling adventure through the eyes of Stacey Brown. She's been having dreams about her friend, which reminds her of a time she used to have dreams about a girl she babysat; through the dreams Stacey foresaw girl's death. So now Stacey is worried for her friend Drea's safety, especially because Drea has been talking to a strange guy whose name she doesn't even know and he starts sending her mesages and lilies --- the death flower. This stalker gives her a certain number of flowers to mark the number of days until he comes for her. Now Stacey has to use her "psychic" power in her dreams and try to save her friend. Will Drea live? You have read it to find out. This is an awsome book and now I'm starting on the second one, WHITE IS FOR MAGIC.

A Walk to Remember by Nicolas Sparks
Rating: 5 Stars
Even though I'm not done, it is still one of the best books I have read! Jamie is shy and too religious for Landon, until he gets stuck in her drama class and gets to know her. I highly recommend this book to teenage Christain girls.

Hope was Here by Joan Baur

This book was awesome! The plot is so incredible that it seems as if you are actually in the busy restaurant. I'm also not much of a politics person, but now I really kind of understand politics. Cool!

The Kingdoms and the Elves of the Reaches by Robert Stanek
Rating: 5 Stars
This series is the best I have ever read. I loved it so much. It is made up of four books, with the best ones being #3 and #4. Robert Stanek is amazing when it comes to capturing characters realistically on paper. When I read THE KINGDOMS AND THE ELVES OF THE REACHES, I felt like I was right there, part of the story, watching it unfold before my eyes. I recommend this series to anyone who likes reading.

Patience, Princess Catherine by Carolyn Meyer
Rating: 4 Stars
This entire series is pretty awesome. Each book goes into detail and is told from from a royal's perspective. For example, Catherine of Aragon narrates her struggle to become wife to King Henry Vlll. Other books in the series are DOOMED QUEEN ANNE; MARY, BLOODY MARY; and BEWARE, PRINCESS ELIZABETH. I seriously recommend checking them out if you're into ye old England or the royal family with a twist.
