Rewriting Her-Story

I'm having a really hard time writing the editorial for this month. As an unashamed feminist, I jumped at the chance to give a little "Girl Power" pep talk to all my friends out there. But looking over the gaggle of teen magazines at the newsstand I became really depressed. Not one of them mentioned the fact that March is Women's History Month. Not even Cosmo Girl, the junior version of Cosmo, itself founded by outspoken feminist Helen Gurley Brown. So, I'll just let these rather sobering facts speak for themselves:

--- Women still make about 72 cents for every dollar earned by a guy.

--- Amnesty International indicates that 1 in 5 women are subject to physical or sexual assault.
