If you could write a poem on any topic, what would it be and why?

It would be about love, because I think love is a beautiful thing; without it, everybody would be miserable.

*****

I would write a poem on love because there is nothing greater then being loved and loving someone. Love is always original. Poems are beautiful and so is love.

*****

The topic would be about vampires because there are many different stories behind the Vampire, and I would try to tell all of them in one poem.

*****

I would write one about my life. I am really popular and rich, and nobody has done a poem about the life of a gorgeous, fabulous, spoiled teen girl! I think that would be to-tally ah-dorable if someone would write one about that!

*****

I would write a poem on the value of family and how important family really is. Some people don't believe it, but family is the most important thing in a person's life.

*****

Probably love because 1) I'm not depressed and 2) the art of poetry is love. Read Shakespeare or Elizabeth Barrett Browning.

*****

I would write about nature. The reason for this is because I love in-depth poems and you can make in-depth poems with real emotion about nature.

*****

I would write about disabled kids and adults because I feel that they shouldn't be made fun of and laughed at just because they are different.

*****

I would write about the thoughts teenagers have in their most difficult moments. I think that these are things most adults don't remember having thought, but most teenagers know all about.

*****

My poem would be about the joy of being me. I would never actually write it because it would reveal too many of my secret thoughts.

*****

If I could write a poem on any topic, it would be on my 10th grade year in high school. This is one year I'll never forget because I experienced a lot of horror, but I had great times also. This is a time I'll never want to forget.

*****

My poem would be about love because, to me, love is something that you can write about forever. Also, it just interests me!

*****

I'd write a poem about being in love with someone you have known for a long time who just wants to be friends.

*****

I would write about random thoughts because they will be the things that just pop into my mind.

*****

The guys I like.

*****

If I could write a poem on any topic, it would be on the life and feelings of other people and me.

*****

I would write about life, everything in life and how I feel about them. It really helps to get your feelings out on paper because some things you can't and don't want to say out loud. Poetry really helps to hack away at the stress and pressure that builds up inside your soul.

*****

I would write a poem about all the people I admire, like my seventh-grade teachers, the people from Gulfview Elementary, my mom, my great-grandma Nan, my grandma Mama, my grandpa Pepper, my favorite authors, my best friend Jamie, my friends Stanely and Kenneth, Mrs. Cain, Mrs. Whitt, etc. Basically, this poem would be about the people who have made a huge impact on my life. I love them all, and this poem would be a way to thank them.

*****

Softball, because it is the best sport. I love it and it is very fun.

*****

Vampires, because they are my obsession.

*****

If I could write a poem on any topic, it would have to be about where the world is going today, religion-wise. I'm a Christian and I really don't like where things are going in terms of music, government, etc.

*****

If I could write a poem on any topic, I'd write it about my life and how my moods intertwine within it.

*****

I would write about fantasies.

*****

Being a writer, I'd have to say I like writing poems on friendship the best. Friendship has so many high and low points, and it's easy to grasp the emotion of each stage as it comes. You can write a bitter poem about a fight with your best friend, then write a poem about how strong the bond between friends can be.

*****

The process of self-discovery, and the realisation of all that we as people have to live for in this world. Sometimes people can become so absorbed in themselves that they forget to respect and appreciate the love that we have coming at us from all different angles, and the fun we can have in life; having just discovered this for myself, I want to help others realise this also, in addition to showing those who helped me just how much they have influenced my perception on different issues.

*****

I would write about elves or nature or some other mystical creature. Why? Because that is what I like the most.

*****

It would probably be about a person I loved a lot or a good time I had.

*****

Poetry should be something from your insides, something you are passionate about. I would write a poem about world issues that are important to me, like HIV/AIDS.

*****

The weather --- it's always changing!

*****

Life --- an endless topic of discussion.

*****

Anything that I'm feeling or anything that another person can be feeling as I put myself in their shoes...I write poems about everything.

*****

I'd write about love, and how it's so darn hard to find sometimes; or how true love only exists in books. Ahhh, what can I say, I just read THE TRUTH ABOUT FOREVER and THIS LULLABY, both by Sarah Dessen, and now I'm in a lovesick mood.

*****

I enjoy angsty, mystery poems. Most of my poems are based off of PHANTOM OF THE OPERA and things like that.

*****

I would write a poem about the trials of being a teenager with a chronic pain disorder --- how lonely it is to be misunderstood with a silent disease, and having no one to believe in me.

*****

If I were to write a poem, I would write about teens these days, because I see how some teens change from good to bad because of peer pressure.

*****

I would write about hardship, life vs. death, and the deep sorrow that follows love.

*****

I would write a poem about Christ --- how and why He died for our sins, and why some don't believe this truth. I think everyone should know who died for them to save them.

*****

Shoes, because they are houses for our feet, and they are usually going somewhere --- mobile homes.

*****

People and their perceptions of me.

*****

It would most likely be the loss or death of a loved one. It could be a breakup from a really good relationship, or death, or even about my friends.

*****

I've already written a poem and it's about love. Even though I'm only 15, about to turn 16, I think I know what love might be like!

*****

I would write a poem based on the difference between what you think of yourself and what others think because everyone sees themselves so much differently than others see them. For instance, a girl most people think is shy might think she is very talkative; models might see themselves as needing to burn off some extra fat on their thighs while the average person thinks they are way too skinny. The gap between what you think and the world thinks is so great sometimes you just need to let the world know and also have the world tell you what they think. I hope that makes sense to you.

*****

I would write about teen love because adults are always saying that we are too young to be in love, but how do they know what we are feeling inside?

*****

Probably suicide, because my life isn't all that great and a lot of my poems are about suicide.

*****

It would be about my family, especially my little brother Devon. Even though we fight a lot, I really love him and I would want him to know that.

*****

For me, it would definitely be about something that I am feeling right now. Poems are the deepest thoughts of the soul, so it would have to be something I am really going through. Confusion, happiness, love, and sadness --- those are all feelings I experience everyday, and I think that's what poetry is all about.

*****

Cute boys.

******

Revenge, because I'm good at it --- but not in the extreme; just enough so that people will beware.

*****

Dragons, magic, and anything else related to that subject, because I love stuff like that.

*****

Suicide, because so many can relate to it.

*****

If I could write a poem about any topic, it would probably be on cutting yourself. I would want to make it clear that something as drastic as that is never the solution. I would also want my poem to impact people's lives (who cut, or have thought about cutting) in a positive way, making them realize that there is always help, or another (more positive) solution to their problem(s). I think that cutting is becoming a bigger issue and I really want to help people, or teens, overcome that.

*****

The poem would be about fun, laughter, and silliness. In today's world, all these things seem so far away, so unreachable, and I just want to put these back into our lives, in some way or the other.

*****

If I could write a poem about anything, I would write about my Lord! He gave me my life and blesses me each and every morning!

*****

I'd write about how I feel inside because that is how I let my feelings out.

*****

The earth --- like the sky and flowers, because you can do many different things with that.

*****

I will write poems on nature and feelings because those two are the only real things in life.

*****

The grief of losing or missing someone, taking it all out on yourself, and then not knowing how much grief you caused your family or friends.

*****

Sports, because that's where I get my information.

*****

I would write a poem about bananas because they are yummy in the tummy!!

*****

It would be about love and the effect it has had on me.

*****

The topic would be nature --- I just love nature.

*****

If I could write a poem about anything I wanted to, it would be about dance. I have so much experience with it. It is also fun and it inspires me.

*****

I would write a poem on talking forever and never really communicating a thing.

*****

Awesome question. I'm a 14-year-old girl, trapped in the prison of grade 9 (the last year of junior high). Most people would automatically think "Love," but no --- for me, it's more BROKEN love...with a twist. I love poetry. If you read my poems, you'd think I'm suicidal. But I'm not. I just feel as though WRITING about hurting myself prevents me from actually doing it, as a healthy way to let out negative emotions. I also enjoy writing about God, life, and death, because these things mean something to me. I've only written about 2 love songs/poems, and I've written a LOT of poetry.

*****

Well, I guess it would be about me and the way I react to things --- like how i'm semi-perfect but I get bad grades --- or how I deal with drama. I don't have any drama so I don't deal with it.

*****

If I could write a poem on any topic, it would be about the war on terror in Iraq and George W. Bush. In the poem, I would let all my anger out on George Bush and how I think he should be ashamed of killing millions of innocent people, all for oil.

*****

If I could write a poem, it would probably be something about my family or my friends, only because they are really fun and important to me. Plus, there are so many funny and sidesplitting stories that I know about them!

*****

The sunset, because the colors of the sun and the dawn of a new day include so many symbols of life and nature.

*****

My poem would be about us living in life.

*****

I love poetry, and for the past few months I have been writing about lost love. Everyday I see people walking down the halls with their boyfriends, and they are all happy, but I am not. The one and only guy who I like likes someone else and I just can't get him out of my head.

*****

I write poems on any subject that comes to mind. I wouldn't want to be limited to writing about one subject. Subjects can range from trying to recover from a death of a friend to trying to navigate the freshman hallway. If I could write a poem on any topic, I would choose whatever topic that I felt comfortable writing about, based on my emotions and experiences of that particular day.

*****

Romance, because I feel that our writing topics are falling each day and I feel that I would be the one to bring us up a notch.

*****

I would write a poem about God because everything is connected to God in some way or another, and He's the most important figure in my life. He has made the biggest difference ever.

*****

If I could write a poem on any topic, it would be about life and the mistakes that some people make and learn from.

*****

It would be on how the world's features have changed over the centuries, but not peoples' intentions.

*****

Love! I think it is the most romantic thing to write about.

*****

It would have to be on family because they are who I adore and look up to the most.

*****

If I could write a poem about anything, I would write it about what you see when you look in a pond.

*****

It would be about music, which is so important to many people. Whether you are playing it or just listening to it, music becomes a basic element of some people's lives. It brings them to admit things they would never admit, and helps you get in touch with feelings.

I have written many poems about music, none of which have been able to describe what it means to me --- or to anybody else for that matter, because it would take a million words to describe how much music means to me.

*****

I would write whatever came to mind, but most likely happiness, death or love. These things are dealt with daily in every society.

*****

Multicultural Life

*****

Tongue twisters, because they make people laugh.

*****

Love, for married couples.

*****

If I was to write a poem it would be about drugs and gangs, because some people just don't get it. The people involved might have a different side.

*****

If I could write a poem on any topic, I would write it on love. This may sound very cliche, but I think of it differently. I'm only 13, and I don't --- and can't --- know what love really is. But it must be something special. Our society is built around it, if you break everything down far enough. Love can be so many things, and poetry would be the best way to express the complexity of love.

*****

The world of imagination, the mind, and wonder. It would rivet teens to think more, to know that they could do more with themselves.

*****

I would write a fantasy poem. I LOVE fantasy, it is a good way to get out of reality! They are so magical!

*****

Love, because it's romantic.

*****

I would write a poem about the seven deadly sins, but I think that they should be renamed from "deadly" to "human." No matter how strong your faith is, or how much you try to resist them, everyone has committed at least one of the seven. This poem would express something that everyone can relate to.

*****

I will try to write a poem on my pet dog. It may sound funny, but I haven't found anything as fascinating as it.

*****

The poem that I would write about would be family. Specifically, sisters. They would be a good subject because it could have a lot of depth.

*****

I would write about emotions because poems are a great way to express them.

*****

I would write poetry that describes how I make a dish.

*****

I would write about love, because love is something everyone strives for in life, even cynics, in their own way. Without love, people wouldn't want to have children, women would just keep getting abortions. You have to love someone or something in order to want to have that baby or to be with someone.

*****

Rain --- it brings out so many emotions, and it's an open floor as to how you want to write about it (you could also use a rose).

*****

I would write about love because I think if love didn't exist in the world, then nobody would be still living. People stay alive or fight to stay alive because they know somebody loves them. I think love is a very important thing that everybody should cherish.

*****

If I could write a poem on any topic, it would be about either seclusion or death. Why? Because I am a better writer in that department, and a death poem is better than a poem about sunshine and elves or happiness. (But that's just one person's opinion.)

*****

About us living for a reason since there are few who actually know the real answer.

*****

A happy poem because I have never written one.

*****

Developing into what I am now, because to me, it is such an incredible journey that I would like to share with everyone.

*****

It would be love, because I love love. It's so open-minded, and there is a lot to write about, like heartbreaks, heartbeats, and much more.

*****

My poem would be about having a disability and what it feels like at times --- how you feel like you're stuck. Life goes on around you but you are stuck where you are, with changes happening to everyone in your life, but not to yourself. I'd like to write about this, but I can never get my words out on paper.

*****

My poem would be about love, and I'd want to send it to my ex-boyfriend so that he could understand my feelings. I think writing poems is the best way of showing and sharing your feelings with each other. Maybe it could help us to be a couple again. Also, nowadays, love is the most important thing for teens, and writing a poem is the best way of showing it
