ghetocookemonstr@aol.com
Go Ask Alice was definetly a book teens could relate to. I love reading diaries, and by far, this one has been the best. Sex, drugs, lost hope, and angst are all included. A tragic, but intruiging book that you'll fall in love with.

singingpotato@cox.net
A book that definitely deals with teen issues is A Tree Grows In Brooklyn. It deals with the issues a girl goes through as she becomes a teenager. The reader can totally relate to the main character.

endless_remorse@yahoo.com
White Oleander by Janet Fitch. It is about a girl that goes through different foster homes because her mother is sentenced to life in prison for murdering her boyfriend. It deals with sex, drugs, suicide, and many other teen issues.

sweetatangy@hotmail.com

A book that really touched me was Insatiable. I don't remember the author but it is one of my favorite books haha. It's about four teenage girls with various eating disorders. One has bulimia, two are anorexic, and one has a compulsive eating disorder. The book explores their problems and follows them through their therapy as they get help. This book really made me realize how destructive the disorders can be.

lelebelle@aol.com
Breathing Underwater and Breaking Point by Alex Flinn. Breathing Underwater deals with abusiveness with boyfriends/girlfriends, but also with parents. Breaking Point deals with peers and how much words can harm. I learned amazing things from both.

libcer@msn.com
"Geeks" by Jon Katz......the description of actions taken by the national education system after the Littleton shootings to wrongly mistreat unique students that were considered "goth" or "troubled" really touched home for me. I reccommmend this book for anyone who hs ever felt different or alone in the world....

horsespirit@cox.net

would have to say that a teen-related book that really touched me was Speak. It was about a girl that was attacked at a party and she had to live with everyone hating her because she called the police and ended the party. It was difficult for her to talk about it, and I admire her strength for talking when she finally was able to. It's sad that these sort of tragedies happen and people feel scared to talk about them. This book touched me because the main character overcame her problem, even though it was extremely difficult for her.

victoria_jones@cox.net
I think overall, it would have to be Jacob Have I Loved by Katherine Paterson. It's about this girl who is basically living in her sister's shadow her whole life. Her sister's always better than her, so she doesn't think she is good for anything except for fishing with the local men in her town. I could really relate to the character (Louise) because I have this friend who is a like the sister (Caroline)....she's better than me at everything. I had a hard time realizing that I am just as important, and I can give a lot to the world too. It took this book to help me re-identify my worth. If you feel you want to break out of following in someone's footsteps, I highly suggest Jacob Have I Loved.

hobbitgirl11@aol.com
'Speak'. It was so literal and it made me feel like I knew what to do if anything bad like what she had to go through would happen to me.

And 'A Tree Grows In Brooklyn' by Betty Smith. It was a great story about loss and love and happiness and what is is like to feel needed.

Another amazing book I just finished was 'A Great And Terrible Beauty' by Libba Bray. It dealt with friendship, family, loss, love, guilt, death, trust, letdowns, and most of all, to me anyway- choices. I recommend it to everyone and anyone.

Mauvaisnuage@hotmail.com
"Go Ask Alice" the diary of a teenage girl who gets involved in drugs. It's a true story of her ups and downs, and her struggle to remain clean.

Ring of Endless Light by Madaline L'Engle
Tuck Everlasting by Natilie Babbit

bcusimblond@yahoo.com
a book that really touched me was "a child called 'it'". it was such a moving story about how he has to fight for his life and try to stay alive while his mother tortures him and his father and brothers act like hes not there.

FuturTchrSarah@hotmail.com

Catalyst by Laurie Halse Anderson. This book is utterly moving from the moment you start to the moment you stop there is so much emotion running through each and every line.

horseloversarz@hotmail.com

I liked Alice On The Outside because it talked about Elizabeth's weight frenzy. She was obsessed with how she looked. At the end, she was pretty much over it but she still had problems.

frenchtoast21@aol.com
the book "speak" by Laurie Halse Anderson. It touched me because the main character goes through a horrible experience that I also shared. After it happens, she decides to remain silent, literally and not speak to anyone. She must find someone she trusts before she completely unravels and loses it. It helped me deal with what I was going thorugh by reading what the main character did to help herself.

tiger926@neo.rr.com
A book that really touched me would probably have to be the Diary of Anne Frank. It deals with the issue of fitting into society; the way Hitler and the Nazis persecuted the Jews and Anne and her family were forced into hiding. This book really touched me because even though she was persecuted just because of her religion, she still thought that there was good in every person. This book is good to read if your feeling down because it really puts things into perspective- somebody is always having a bigger struggle than you are.

sweetlilb13@msn.com
Anna's Baby is about a teen who becomes pregnant by her boyfriens who leaves her when he finds out about the baby.

UnknownSender@UnknownDomain
I think "Speak" by Laurie Halse Anderson is one of the best books. It deals with depression and rape. I think the feelings of Melinda were so real. Her thoughts were so deep and sometimes funny.
I would recommend this book to any teen who likes reading.

xximdabomangelxx@aol.com

My answer would be Born In Sin by: Evelyn Coleman. Its absolutely THE BEST book that I have ever read in my life! It really touch my heart and the experiences that I've gone through.

dolly9010@aol.com
a book that really touched me about the issue of suicide, love, trust, and friendship was THE WIND BLOWS BACKWARDS by MARY DOWNING HAHN

aliceinchainsrocks@rock.com

"Queen of Everything" is one of my favorite books, and it really did a great job of describing lack of identity, trust in others, and self confidence every teen faces today. It perfectly portrayed everything all teens go through, especially those who can't find confidence in people around them or themselves. It is a really great book, and I would recommend it to any fellow teen.

rebelgurl_rocks@yahoo.com

Dreamland by: Sarah Dessen, its about a girl who gets abused by her boyfriend and her life soon begins to fall apart. Its a sad but great book, I cried a little.

Peppicool1@hotmail.com
Someone Like You written by Sarah Dessen deals with basically what to do when life turns out the total opposite of what you thought it would and then takes a big dive.

sflowers@avsd.k12.pa.us
I am not a teen, but I am a teacher of teenage readers. The Beatrice Sparks Diaries really impress my kids and since they are autobiographical, they are quite realistic and can be graphic at times--the three favorites are "Annie's Baby" ( teen pregnancy, "Go Ask Alice" ( drug addiction), and "It Happened to Nancy" (AIDS). I would highly recommend all three.

jwalker9@aol.com
go ask alice

samantha0755@earthlink.net

I read a book called degrees of guilt. It is a three part series. It deals with many issues teens face... drugs, alcahol, gossip, cliques, and relationships. It was a great series. I would reccomend it to everyone even if your not dealing with any of the issues. It is an excelent series to read.

I just read "Cut" it was a very good book and it involves issues that some teens are going through in today's world.

neelyj@dunellenschools.org
Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson. Brilliantly written. The story first breaks your heart and then balms it with healing. You are left feeling like you lived this experience.

fuzzzball@aol.com

I just recently read Go Ask Alice. It really touched me because most of the people in my life (family, friends) have been either drug users or have been introduced to sex early in life. This book really touched me because most of the things that "Alice" was thinking about issues are how I think about the same issues. This is a really good book, but you have to have a secure mind to read it because it is very real and very intense.

I read the books called Sweep and I see discrimination, even among the different clans of Wicca. I get that all the time because I myself am a Wiccan.

The Wind Blows Backwards by Mary Downing Hahn

nickchik@aol.com
Although a ton of people probably say this, Speak (by Laurie Halse Anderson)really went deep into an important teenage issue

Bumblebezzie@aol.com

"Empress of the World" is one i read a while back, so I forget who it's by, but it's about two girls who go to camp and end up falling in love with each other. It was interesting to read, and I happened to pick it up not long after my church had started a series of discussions on gays/lesbians, so that made it important to me.

claireanet2006@aol.com

Names Will Never Hurt Me, is a really good book. One of the charcters actually reminded me of myself. It is my new favorite book.
