Stuck in Neutral & Inside Out, by Terry Trueman, along with Kissing Doorknobs by Terry Spencer Hesser really made an impact on my life. The books by Trueman, though they are short in their pages, are very powerful and make you think. Stuck in Neutral is about a young boy with cerbal palsy, who feels as if his father wants to kill him. Inside Out is about a boy with schizophrenia, who is put in a hostage situation. Both books have characters with different disabilities, but their disabilities don't limit them. Kissing Doorknobs is about a teenage girl who has Obsessive Complusive Disorder, and how what it's like to have it. All these books have characters that have a type of disability or illness, and it's great to see books that have their main character with something like that since not all books go into the lives of those people. Those 3 books are great books, and should be read.

Harry Potter by all means. Harry Potter is one of those stories that has an entire world - complete with culture, tribulations and vivid, beautiful characters. It is one of the only storybook worlds big enough to escape into.

The books that have had the biggest impact on my life are usually things I can relate to or things I feel strongly about:
Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson
and
Annie on My mind by Nancy Garden
are probably the 2 that have single handly described my feelings and brought a better understanding to myself.

Lately I have been having trouble with depression, and reading Victor Hugo's "Les Miserables" totally inspired me. To me it's all about God working in these different hard lives and about not losing hope. Jean Valjean is the most amazing character I hope I never cease to idolize.

You Dont Know Me by David Klass is a novel that has made a major impact on my life. It made a impact because I have went through alot of the same things the main character John went through in the story. And reading the book gave me the courage to speak up and not be afraid to tell some one about some of my problems because John was scared to and it turned out bad in the end for him and I didnt want to make the same mistake and now I have help. SO David Klass is a author who has made a impact on my life.

tfbgurl@spii.net
The book that has made an impact on my life is "Nobody's Perfect Journal" By Kimberly Kirberger. Its a book much like the chicken soup ones, is askes you questions about your body, your life , how you fell about certain issues and such.Through that, I think you realize that you really are a special individual. It helped me realize life in middle school (almost high school) was not about being popular and beautiful.

basketbear12@yahoo.com
The author that has made an impact on my life is E.R Frank. He has made me think about the harder things in life. The things that aren't happy and wrapped in gold. He's made me relize that there is a darker side of human nature. And that it's ok to be what you are. You need to be happy about yourself

Any book by Christopher Pike makes me think about my life. His books are wonderful! I'm working on getting all of his books right now

mccabe56@bellsouth.net
"Gifted Hands"  by Ben Carson, M.D.

The most inspiring book I have ever read about a person transforming their life from that of one with little or no chance of success to one of brilliance.  He was raised in the slums by a single mother and labeled dummy by his classmates. Even his teachers said he would never amount to anything.  Now he is head of Pediatric Neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Medical University and is renowned worldwide for his talks of encouragement to young adults.  He is also credited for successfully separating Siamese twins.  His uplifting words of how his mother's belief that he could make something of himself and how his faith transformed his life will move you like no other book.  Enjoy!!

lilessie53@yahoo.com
The book "shattering glass" by gail giles is possibly one of the best books i've ever read. it deals with peer pressure and shows how a simple plan can roll dangerously out of control. to this day i can't forget it.

deathtonumetal15@hotmail.com
Two books have made a huge impact on my life: "The Communist Manifesto" by Karl Marx and "Guerilla Days in Ireland" by Tom Barry. Both have opened up to my eyes the oppression felt in my own country and around the world, by the working class.

PreciousDUSIA@aol.com
Life Strategies for Teens -- by Jay McGraw really made an impact on my life.  It made me realize that teens do have a lot of control over their life,  I learned how to accomplish things I never thought doing, how to forgive, and how to never give up.  This book teaches you something new each time you read it, and it is really amazing.

lelebelle@aol.com
I think Robert Cormier's books have really made an impact on my life. He writes about real things (with the exception of Fade) in very interesting ways that grab you and pull you in. The Chocolate War and it's sequil is a great example. Everything he writes in those two books can been seen in the every day lives of teens today. His books are really amazing and I would reccomend them to anyone.

A few weeks ago I was asked to try drugs, at that instant I thought about how the girls in the book totally ruined their lives with pills and drugs and I realized that there really is no positive side to trying drugs. This book is great and I would recommend it to almost anyone. Its deffinatly a classic

The book that I just read that has made an impact on my life is You Don't Know Me by David Klass. I was amazed to find out how well this author described the main characters life so realistically and still have your attention focused solely on the book. The message of the boy was clear and strong. He was calling out to his mother to stop her boyfriend from beating him, to become the person she used to be before her father left, and to recognize her son because he thought she didn't know him at all. This book covers in depth topics brought to light. This book really meant something to me because it encourages me to succeed. If a boy who was beat and ridiculed did it everyday then why can't I? So I encourage those of all ages to read this book and live your life the best you can each day. Our trials aren't as hard as the boy in the books trials were, but we should still have the same ambition to make something of ourselves and be something out of the prosaic.

There are so many books I've read that I could relate to that it's difficult to name just one.

» Maus I & II by Art Spiegelman
I love books on the Holocaust and it's interesting to view it from a different perspective.

» Queenbees & Wannabes by Rosalind Wiseman
It teaches you about cliques, boyfriends, labels, etc.  It's really informative and helped me understand what high school really is like.

» Memoirs of a Bookbat by Kathryn Lasky
I never knew how some people of today's society could hate and spit on books of certain genres.  An excellent book about book banning and fundamentalism.

» The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold
A memoir of the author's raping, it is written with honesty and truth.  I never knew the aftermath of rape could be so damaging but it is.

» The Gospel According to Larry by Janet Tashjian
This book made me think, not only about philosiphical ideas but becoming famous and how that can change your life (and even ruin your happiness).

» Lucas by Kevin Brooks
A story about when prejudice has gone too far.  Some people can be so cruel and arrogant.

» Sarah Dessen's books
One of my favourite authors.  Her books are real-life and true.  "Keeping the Moon" made me think about my own self-esteem while "Dreamland" informed me about abuse and how some girls deal with it.

silkee2me@yahoo.com

I think the book, Go Ask Alice, had an impact on my life because it helped me to understand what my brother was going through in his life. when he started doing drugs, i felt helpless, but when he was in rehab i read this book and started to understand the complex world of drugs and what the real effect could be on someones life. Now that he is back from rehab i keep a copy of the book by my bed. I make the connections with my family moving because my dad changed his job, and having to make new friends. It is an important book not only to me but to the world. Sometimes it is hard to think about the sacrifices that were made to get that book out to the world, and awaken peoples thoughts

Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech made a huge impact on my life. I can't count the times I've read it since the first time in 4th grade, but it makes me feel thankful for having a mother, and it inspires me to live each day like my last.

The book that has made an impact on my life was the book Freak the Mighty. The meaning of the book really got me. It taught me how to be thankful for what you have and never be disapointed with anything that you have. Since I've read Freak the Mighty I've really appreciated my friends, especially my best friends, because I never know when I'm going to have my last goodbye to them, or even my last words.

You should definetly try to read this book if you can get your hands on it.

I don't really have one but I think if I did it would have to be chicken- soup for the teenaged soul 2. I personally liked 3, but 2 was more touching and emotional. I felt a sense of psyciatric well being. Those books really got to me & changed me alot. I think you should try reading one of those to.

Little women has really had an impact on my life because it shows how people with little of everything can still bring happiness and help to others. We take it for granted that we have all that we need, and sometimes we can be very wasteful. This book demonstrates how kind you should and could be to others.

hairymonster@nbtsc.org
It would probally be this one book called The True meaning of Cleavage after reading this book alot of things about were true in many ways like how people will act in school and how so many kids get mistreated, and it kind of helped my friendship when it was down in the dumps, It helped me get through alot of stuff that was going on in my life that made it completely horrible.
